Cozy, charming and not too fancy, new owners have morphed Restaurant du Village practically overnight into a bistro and bar, starring a sophisticated menu of small plates: spicy watermelon gazpacho with peeky toe crab and avocado (heavenly combo of sweet, salt and spice) and perfectly sauteed skate wing with lightly dressed local greens. Bar fare includes hamburgers and an innovative smoked salmon and duck egg Croque Madame. Prices are friendly, wines by the glass start at $5.50 and this is exactly how I like to eat. The menu is on du Village's website for now.
